Palma Notes and the browser
Palma Notes keeps notes, lists and tasks on your phone. If you like, you can also open them in the browser at notes.palmalauncher.com. You don't need an account for that.
How the app works
Type in the bar at the bottom and press Enter. "milk, eggs, bread" becomes three lines in Groceries. "tomorrow 9:00 call the dentist" becomes a task with a reminder. Tap a task to tick it off. Hold it for date, repeat, list or Three things. Today shows the three things you picked, today's tasks and what is still open, never in red.
Your notes from Palma
On first start, Notes takes over the notes from Palma. Palma keeps them too. After that, >note in Palma opens the app, and the pinned note on your home screen comes from the app.
Reminders on time
Android may shift a reminder by up to an hour to save battery. Want it on the minute? In settings (the gear at the bottom), turn on On the minute. Android then asks once for exact alarms.
Also in the browser
- Open settings and turn on Also in the browser.
- You get a sync code of 20 characters, like
ABCDE-FGHJK-LMNPQ-RSTUV. Write it down or keep it in your password manager. - On a computer, go to notes.palmalauncher.com and type the code.
What you change on your phone shows up in the browser within half a minute. What you change in the browser reaches your phone as soon as you open Notes, and otherwise within an hour. If your phone has no network for a while, the change waits until it's back.
What Palma can see
Nothing you write. Your phone and your browser encrypt everything with your code before it leaves. The server only keeps encrypted blocks and times. Palma doesn't have your code, so it can't read your notes.
Lost your code
Lost is lost. Without the code nobody can open the notes on the server, Palma included. Everything is still on your phone: in settings, tap Show code. If your phone is gone too, the notes on the server can't be opened anymore.
New phone
Install Notes, open settings, choose Also in the browser and then I already have a code. Type your code. Whatever was already on the new phone is added.
On someone else's computer
Leave Remember on this computer off. Done? Choose Lock or close the tab. On your own computer you can let it remember the code. Forget on this computer removes it again.
Turning it off and wiping
Turn off Also in the browser. Palma asks whether your notes should also leave the server.
- Only on this phone: this phone stops, the browser and other phones keep working.
- Also delete from the server: everything on the server is gone and every phone or browser with that code stops. Everything stays on your phone.
If you don't use the code anywhere for more than a year, the server cleans up the vault on its own.
